World NGO Day is celebrated annually on February 27th to recognize the incredible impact of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on societies worldwide. This day provides an opportunity to reflect on NGOs’ vital role in addressing some of the world's most pressing issues, such as poverty, inequality, and human rights violations.
As we celebrate World NGO Day 2023 with the theme: “the role and influence of NGOs in advancing human rights and achieving sustainable development goals”, we at Oxfam in Nigeria are proud to be part of this global movement of change makers. For over two decades, Oxfam in Nigeria has been working with stakeholdersto address inequality, poverty and increase active citizenship across communities.
Our strengths lie in our global presence, trustworthy brand, and strong partnerships with local and international allies. We have a vast pool of knowledge, resources, and instruments that we can leverage to make a difference in the lives of Nigerians.
As we commemorate World NGO Day, we call on individuals, governments, civil society, private sector, and other partners to join hands with us to build a world without poverty and inequality. By working together, we can create a broader impact, empower the voices of the marginalized, and make our world a better place for all.
Let us celebrate the work of NGOs around the world and recommit to supporting their efforts in making the world a more ‘just and equitable’ place for all.
Happy World NGO Day!
