From Vision to Action: The Cost of Development
The Costed Action Plan (CAP) is a critical tool for the successful implementation of the Michika LGA development plan. It addresses the challenge of a lack of clear cost estimates for development activities, providing a transparent and accountable guide for resource allocation. The plan's financial estimates were developed through a collaborative process involving a stakeholder meeting with representatives from all 16 wards, as well as local and state government departments.
Key Financial Projections (2024-2028)
The total estimated cost to implement the five-year plan is NGN 30,645,601,744.00. The financial breakdown across the 10 key sectors highlights the significant investment needed to address the community's most pressing needs.
- Physical Infrastructure has the highest projected cost, with an estimated NGN 12.8 billion, reflecting the extensive work needed for road networks, electricity, and other essential facilities.
- Health and Education are the next most significant sectors, with projected costs of approximately NGN 5.4 billion and NGN 2.6 billion, respectively, emphasizing the urgent need for improved services in these areas.
- Other sectors, including Social Protection (NGN 2.7 billion), Water and Sanitation (NGN 2.4 billion), and Agriculture and Food Security (NGN 1.7 billion), also require substantial funding to achieve their development goals.
The plan emphasizes that while government funding is a key source, a robust resource mobilization strategy is essential. This will include contributions from development partners, NGOs, religious bodies, corporate entities, and community members themselves.
The Costed Action Plan, completed in July 2024, will be periodically reviewed to ensure that progress aligns with the designed timeline and to adjust for factors like inflation. This strategic financial framework is a crucial step towards transforming the identified needs and goals into tangible, sustainable development outcomes for the people of Michika.
This report, finalized in July 2024, is now being officially published in August 2025.
