We are thrilled to relaunch our 'Naija Tori' newsletter, bringing you closer to the inspiring progress Oxfam is making in Nigeria.
Oxfam in Nigeria, along with our dedicated partners, is making a real difference in the lives of Nigerians. Through our various projects, we are tackling poverty, inequality, and injustice head-on.
- Project Milestones:
The historic inclusion of 8 female chiefs in a King's Traditional Council, a first for a community in Cross River State (partnering with Kebetcahe Women).
Through the project 'Accessible Aviation', our partner Centre for Ability Rehabilitation & Empowerment (CARE) advocated for policy changes that have benefited Nigerians with disabilities.
- 257,454 members (67.4% women) in our Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs)!
- Key Events and Activities:
We recently co-hosted a successful conference led by CARE Nigeria, alongside other partner organizations, on Accelerating Financial and Economic Inclusion: The Pivotal Role of Savings Groups in Nigeria. The conference brought together rural women and men, development experts, policymakers, government officials, and financial experts.
