Welcome to Naija Tori's second edition, which highlights the impactful work being done by Oxfam in Nigeria and our partners across the country. This issue showcases initiatives focused on community resilience, climate action, women's empowerment, and financial inclusion. Through our collaborative efforts, we continue to drive impactful change and address the most pressing issues facing communities in Nigeria.
Key highlights in this edition include:
- Building Climate Resilience: Contributions to World Environment Day, including the launch of the Climate Justice Youth Ambassadors Network, advocating for climate solutions and holding major polluters accountable.
- Empowering Women in Agriculture: Recognition of Nigeria’s female food heroes who are making significant contributions to the agricultural sector, while urging stakeholders to increase support for women farmers.
- Financial Inclusion and Economic Growth: Insights into how communities are being equipped with essential financial literacy skills through Village Savings and Loan Association training sessions in Taraba, Adamawa, and Rivers states.
- Promoting Women's Rights: The launch of a new radio show in Adamawa State aimed at raising awareness on key issues such as gender-based violence, child marriage, and access to healthcare, while creating a platform for dialogue and empowerment.
- International Youth Day: From Clicks to Action: An overview of the two-day event that brought together 650 in-person and 1,800 virtual participants, enhancing Nigeria's commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and highlighting the essential role of youth in driving sustainable development.
