Funded by the European Union, PROSELL is a 4year project (2018 – 2022) to increase 40, 000 farmers’ productivity and livelihood in 6 Local Government Areas of Taraba State.

This project follows the success of Pro-Resilience Action (PROACT), a similar EU-funded project that is currently reaching 35,000 households in Kebbi and Adamawa States also being implemented by Oxfam and Development Exchange Centre and is being implemented in Kurmi, Zing, Takum, Wukari, Donga and Ardo Kola.

The overaching aim of PROSELL is to build the resilience of 40,000 small-scale farmers, fishermen, and livestock owners (women, youth, and vulnerable households) in the commodity value chain and rural enterprise.

Objectives

  • Increase the income of small-scale farmers by enhancing their agricultural productivity, market access, and job creation along crop, fish, and livestock value chains.
  • Enhance adaptive capacities and resilience of small-scale farming households to climate change.
  • Promote cooperation and mutual benefits of farmers, livestock owners, and all value chain actors

Beneficiaries

With an overall budget of 10 million Euros, the project is reaching 50% women and 30% youth working very closely with communities, the private sector, government at all levels, and the civil society among others. The project is increasing the productivity and income for rural households, enhancing their capacity to adapt to the impacts of climate change, and improving mutual accountability between stakeholders for good governance. 

With the support of the European Union, we have: 
✅ Assisted 9,475 households with food loans ✅ Empowered 4,000 farmers with water pumps, seedlings, and fertilizers ✅ Established 700 food banks in 80 communities ✅ Provided short-term employment to 3,998 individuals ✅ Over 38,000 members engaged in Village Savings and Loan association.
